UNFAITHFUL
Reviewed by Terry Anderson 5/11/02 Infidelity is a common story in movies. Usually it's the poor, poor innocent wife who gets strayed on and it breaks her heart. The kid suffers and the dog-hearted husband wonders what he can do to be forgiven and duck that alimony. Well, NOT this time! You see folks, wives do "it" too and this picture shows us what happens when she has a good, faithful and loving husband who works hard and is crazy about his spouse. She (Diane Lane), just by chance, meets a young French, sweet looking slickster who preys on her vulnerability. He knows from first glance that she is easy pickins and moves in for the kill. She is hooked and thinks of nothing but him to the point of being obvious and deceitful enough to alert her husband who is played sympathetically by Richard Gere. I mean, we are rooting for this nice guy and WHATEVER he does is OK with us. The "WHATEVER" is where the plot thickens and keeps us in suspense. A common story that is well acted and directed can be a good picture and this is a good example of that. Gere was solid and extremely believable as was Lane who is getting easier to look at every day. Having said that, there will be no Best Picture Oscar here. It was just a good, solid movie that is worth seeing. "There's no such thing as a mistake. There is what you DO and what you DON'T do". RECOMMENDATION: Good picture that will make you SLAP your cheatin' wife (IF you have one)! Go see it. TWO ADULTEROUS, CHECK YOUR MATE THUMBS UP!!! Movie Review © 2002 by Terry Anderson
